Patient Outcomes Depend on Accurate Test Results That Depend on Operator Proficiency

Wednesday, August 7, 11:00 – 11:20 a.m.
Exhibit Hall, Theater 3

Overview

Proper pipette performance is essential to generating data that are both reliable and reproducible. Variability can come from faulty pipettes and poor pipetting techniques. Ensuring pipettes are working properly and calibrated is not the only way to ensure reliable, reproducible, and accurate results. Pipette operations also impact test results, therefore there is a strong argument for incorporating a training and proficiency testing program for pipetting in every lab that values accuracy and precision.

Outcomes

After attending this session, participants will:

  • Learn that pipette operations are as important as the pipette itself.
  • Be made aware of products and services that can help assess and train pipette operators.
  • Learn that implementation of a pipette training program will improve assay results and make them more reliable.
